The game first appeared in Japan in 1984 where it was given the name "Sudoku," which is short for a longer expression in Japanese -"Sūji wa dokushin ni kagiru" - which means, "the digits are limited to one occurrence."

SuDoku (current version V4.10 September 2025)

The spreadsheet assists in completing the SuDoku puzzles with various levels of assistance and error detection of false moves.

New features include a floating Toolbar in older Excel versions,  ribbon Add-ins in newer Excel versions, improved printing and performance

Addition of hidden singles in pencil marks for difficult type puzzles, to further assist.
