Operating the Daikin aircon


The Daikin aircon app can control up to 5 compatible Daikin aircon devices with connected WiFi modules.

Useful in Summer and Winter months, or any time,
to make quick / fine adjustments,
works in conjunction with other remotes or apps.

Comes with auto Night dimming mode from 20:00 to 07:00
Can be overridden on the Select aircon view.

Some devices may have different features.

What it can control
  • turning an aircon on or off
  • selecting correct operating mode
  • adjusting temperature setting
  • adjusting fan speed setting and operation
  • adjusting air motion type

What is visible [if available] - see diagram below
  • all current device settings,
  • inside room temperature
  • outside house temperature
  • operating state
  • device name and IP
Description

Blue can be tapped, a stylus pen may be useful.

Initial configuration
  • In the Fitbit App, Gallery tile, Daikin aircon app Settings,
    • add the IP address of each aircon
    • in Select aircon view mode, they will appear immediately
  • requires phone be present and syncing for app to work
  • may require a refresh from the Main view
  • See troubleshooting below if not working

 Operation [with tactile feedback]
  • before making any changes always tap refresh to get current state
    • necessary to keep in sync with the aircon
      in case it has been changed by another remote or app

  • tap on/off button to turn selected aircon on/off 
    • Red=error, Green=on Gray=off
  • tap centre ring to select which aircon, in separate view
  • in Select aircon view mode tap icon to change day/night view,
  • swipe centre ring left/right to go to previous or next aircon
  • use +/- to set desired temperature
  • use mode icons to change operating mode
  • use fan and sweep icons to fine adjust, in separate screen
  • tap red X to leave any other views
  • press Back button to Exit app entirely

Startup mode
  • initial screen shows with progress bar while loading.
  • requires phone be present, nearby and syncing for app to work
  • may require a refresh to get latest state, if loading is slow/poor communications
  • the last used aircon remains the selected one on startup

 Connectivity
  • the phone must have access to the local network where the aircons are connected, may work remotely using a VPN tunnel to home.

These views are selected from the Main view
by tapping the corresponding icon

To leave view without change, tap the red X


Switching between Day /  Night mode

 Tap on the Main view centre ring to get to the Select aircon view
Tap Sun/Moon icon [top left] to change mode

Between 20:00 and 07:00 it switches to Night mode automatically
The mode can be toggled any time.

Troubleshooting
error

Error detected
There are 2 components to the app, one which runs on the watch, the other on the phone, check the following:

The Fitbit App
  • will manually sync. The Fitbit App can easily stop syncing unexpectedly then nothing will work.
In the Fitbit App, Gallery tile, Daikin app
  • Permissions are all granted
  • Settings has at least one aircon defined
Check phone is on same network as the aircon and WiFi is on, try with cellular off.

Bluetooth may be off, try toggling off/on.

After each check remember to tap the on Daikin app Refresh icon to see if it is working. Or tap the centre to see if the IP addresses are present, if not there may be a sync issue with the Fitbit App.

Patience is needed as it takes time to load the data, especially when waiting confirmation of a change.

If the watch doesn't vibrate when tapping an icon, as they are small, it may be necessary to try tap in the exact right place.

The Daikin aircon app can be used without accounts, logins, fees or restrictions.

For Sense and Versa 3
at least Firmware version x.128.6.17 is required.
