simplepin

Overview

This little app can save you if ever, even for a brief moment,
you can't remember your exact PIN
whether at a checkout, Bankomat, or online

Don't block your card trying different codes on a reader,
use the app instead to verify or find the correct PIN code.

All data is saved in a secure area on the watch that only you
have access to from the watch face.

In addition to storing Card/Pin information
it can be used to store any portable account/password profiles
which may be used in multiple places
and/or not necessarily saved in the browser

Any other secure information can be stored as required.

How does it work

When you open the app the first time it will ask you to provide a secure access
PIN (secure app
PIN ) of your choice and to confirm it.
You can make it as secure or as easy as you like

3rd confirm

Next time you open the app you will be asked to enter
the secure app PIN, you chose.

Results

Once entered correctly it will tell you.

Backup / Restore and security

SimplePin is completely independent of any connections or phones or other apps
which is a great advantage as it is always to hand and fully secure.
The data cannot be accessed or hacked by others.

As the data is confidential and precious it does need to be backed up.
There is a process to do this securely.

Any backup/restore operation requires the phone and watch
to be syncing and
SimplePin to be running on the watch.

SimplePin provides a means to make an encrypted copy of the
information stored on the watch and to restore it from
it's Settings [in the Fitbit App, Gallery tile] which looks like this

backup 1

To perform a backup click on the Backup data field so it opens

backup 1

Click the data portion and Select all & Copy

backup 2

Paste the data in a safe retrieval place, such as Notes or Keep.

To restore the data to the current or previous version, reverse the process.

1) retrieve the backup copy
2) open the Backup data for editing
3) remove the existing data
4) paste in the version from the copy
5) click Save to send it to the watch.

A new backup is made after any change, providing the watch is syncing with the Fitbit App.

If you are not sure you have the latest Backup data
[Eg, changes made in SimplePin when the watch wasn't synced]

then make open
SimplePin and sync the watch
Edit any item and Save it [no changes are necessary]
Every time a Save is done a new Backup version is created
and this will then be the latest data in the Backup data field

Troubleshooting FAQ & tips

Q. What if you forgot the secure app PIN in a panic to resolve a situation.

A. No problem. Tap the Del key 4 times and it will prompt you briefly with the PIN, known as security by obscurity.

Q. You changed watch, or made modifications you want to recover.

A. The app has an encrypted backup in it's Settings in the Gallery tile of the Fitbit App - see section above

Q. How do I restore to a previous state.

A. Start SimplePin on the watch with it synced to the Fitbit App
copy the appropriate backup file that you saved previously and insert it in the Backup/Restore area and tap Save.

This will set all information back to that point.
See process above.

Q. Can I use SimplePin standalone [not synced with the app]

A. Yes. SimplePin is completely standalone and does not need the Fitbit app for normal use, So you don't need a telephone either.
Only exception is backup/restore which does require syncing.
